Following the success of their show An Taisteal, Los Stompers & Nuala Irish Dancers embark on a new adventure in Irish music & dance – Celtic Rock & Reels! Springing from the same sources as Riverdance and Lord of the Dance this atypical Irish music & dance show offers a lively mixture of upbeat Irish tap-dance and more traditional soft shoe numbers, backed up by Irish jigs and reels played to rhythms from around the globe.
Many elements of Irish culture will be touched upon in this Celtic journey: from the dancing at the crossroads of 19th century rural Ireland to the hard-shoe tap-dance of Dublin pubs; from the rabble-rousing rebel songs of yore to the haunting beauty of Sean Nós singing. The Irish language, known as Gaeilge will be an important feature of the new show alongside several original Los Stompers compositions. Celtic Rock & Reels carries us to Ireland in the most agreeable company: the dazzling coreography of Nuala Irish Dancers and the endearing musical craic of Los Stompers.
Los Stompers
Formed by members from Ireland, England and Spain Los Stompers have become, over the years, a reference point on the European Irish music scene. Their development, from traditional folk roots and the time-honoured pub-song repertoire, evolving through incursions into Celtic Rock, Hip-Hop, Ska and Reggae, marks a merry musical cross-breeding of the classic and the contemporary, shot through with pungent wit and an unpretentious, fun-loving approach. Los Stompers have performed throughout the length and breadth of Spain passing through Catalonia, Aragon, Valencia, Basque Country, Mallorca,Madrid, Asturias, Navarra, Murcia and Galicia as well as a goodly part of Europe, having toured extensively in Scandinavia, Switzerland, France, Germany and Holland.
Nuala Irish Dancers
Founded in 2009 by former members of Celtic Caos this youthful dance troupe is made up of Scottish, Breton, Russian & Spanish dancers whose goal is the incorporation of diverse styles, such as Tap & Flamenco, within the framework of traditional Irish dance. Nuala Irish Dancers represents the culmination of its’ components previous experience in the pioneering of Irish dance in Spain.
